    Position Title: Operations Manager

    Pay Grade: Salary ($140k - $165k)

    Reports to: Chief Operation Officer

    Job Family: Construction

    General Description: The Operations Manager is an upper-level management position at Earthscapes, overseeing the daily operation, productivity, quality, safety, and client satisfaction of a construction division. They are responsible for maximizing the division’s operating performance and achieving its financial goals.

    Essential Job Functions:

    • Train and strictly enforce all operational safety procedures and policies.

    • Work with the COO to set and meet yearly divisional goals and budgets.

    • Collaborate with the COO and sales team to maintain or improve operational efficiency.

    • Track monthly divisional Profit and Loss Statements, manage changes to increase profit, including COGS and operational overhead.

    • Forecast and secure staffing and equipment needs through the 3 Month Look Ahead budget.

    • Recruit and onboard to maintain operational efficiency and net profit.

    • Participate in Preplanning Meetings to set field budgets, identify opportunities and concerns, and improve existing projects.

    • Build and manage a high-performing team, including Superintendents, Foremen, Project Managers, Engineers, and possibly Fleet, Purchasing, and Safety Managers.

    • Track production costs and margins by job type and client, providing monthly reports comparing actual versus estimated results.

    • Monitor material costs, manage purchasing, and ensure 90% buyout within 90 days of project awards.

    • Oversee project closeouts to achieve zero punch list items before turnover dates.

    • Ensure monthly customer satisfaction survey results of 90% or higher.

    • Conduct monthly cost-to-complete management.

    • Review and sign off on bids and contracts.

    • Attend meetings to report on division performance.

    Safety Responsibilities:

    • Ensure compliance with Earthscapes safety policies and OSHA regulations while maintaining productivity and quality.

    Requirements Profile: Skills/Abilities

    • Proven success in operations, project management, scheduling, bid review, and P&L management.

    • Knowledge of contracting methods (GMP, cost plus, etc.) and contract review.

    • Strong analytical, conflict management, and troubleshooting skills.

    • Leadership, mentoring, communication, and team-building abilities.

    • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

    • Client-focused approach for both internal and external customers.

    • High emotional intelligence and team collaboration skills.

    • Commitment to Earthscapes’ doctrine, values, and mission.

    • Proficiency with MacOS and Microsoft Office Suite.

    • Open, candid communicator with strong leadership credibility.

    • Understanding of best operations practices and systems.

    • High ethical standards, with a record of vision, innovation, and creativity.

    • Spanish language skills are helpful but not required.

    Education/Experience/Licenses/Certifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in horticulture, landscape architecture, construction management, business, or related fields.

    • 10+ years of landscape construction or related experience.

    • Prior leadership or management experience.

    • Valid Driver’s License.

    Work Environment/Physical Requirements:

    • Travel to client events, job sites, and other divisions as required.

    Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

    • Gross profitability: ±1% of pro forma.

    • Labor, materials, and equipment rental budgets: ±1% of pro forma.

    • Operational overhead management: ±1% of pro forma.

    • COGS billing accuracy: ±3% of income statement.

    • Unauthorized billings: Below $25K per quarter.

    • Accurate 3-6 month forecast (burn accuracy).

    • 100% client retention rate.

  • The Construction Superintendent provides overall leadership to Foremen across jobs and reports directly to the General Superintendent. Among the Superintendent’s responsibilities are overseeing safety, assisting Foremen in planning, coordinating, and executing work on time, to Earthscapes' standards and within budget as well as enhancing client relationships and the company image.

  • The Foreman is responsible for leading and managing the crew on-site. This role includes working alongside the team and ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and to standard. The Foreman must motivate the crew, foster a productive work environment and take ownership of the overall job performance. This includes ensuring that all work is done safely and on schedule.
